Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Meta-OS

General

What is Meta-OS?

Meta-OS is a complete AI-native mobile operating system built from the ground up. Unlike traditional operating systems, Meta-OS is designed around conversation - you talk to your phone instead of tapping through apps and menus.

How is Meta-OS different from Android and iOS?

Meta-OS is not a launcher or layer on top of Android/iOS. It's a standalone operating system that replaces them entirely. Instead of apps and icons, you have AI agents and voice-first interactions. Everything is conversational and context-aware.

Is Meta-OS just a launcher or theme?

No. Meta-OS is a complete operating system, not a launcher, theme, or app running on Android. It's built from the ground up with AI-first architecture.

App Compatibility

Can I use Instagram, Facebook, and other social media apps?

Meta-OS takes a web-first approach. Popular services like Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and TikTok can be accessed through their web versions in the browser. Additionally, developers can create AI agents that interface with these platforms' APIs, allowing voice-controlled posting and interaction without opening the app.

What about banking apps and other critical applications?

Banking and financial apps can be accessed via their web versions, which most major banks now offer. For services requiring native apps, Meta-OS encourages developers to build lightweight AI agents through the Agent Store.

How do I install new capabilities?

Instead of traditional apps, you install AI agents from the Agent Store. These agents add new capabilities to your OS - like weather updates, news summaries, or service integrations - all accessible via voice.

Can developers build for Meta-OS?

Yes! The Agent Store allows developers to create AI agents and capabilities. Building an agent is lighter than building a full app - you define capabilities, APIs, and conversation flows rather than entire UIs.

Privacy & Security

Where does my data go?

All AI processing happens on-device. Meta-OS uses local LLMs (3-7B models) that run entirely on your phone. Your conversations, personal data, and memories never leave your device.

Is my voice data stored?

Voice recognition happens locally using on-device models. Voice data is processed in real-time and not transmitted to external servers unless you explicitly use a cloud service.

How does Personal Memory work?

Personal Memory is your private AI vault that stores conversations, context, and information locally on your device. It's encrypted and never synced to cloud servers without your explicit permission.

Technical

What hardware does Meta-OS run on?

Meta-OS is designed for modern smartphones with sufficient processing power for on-device AI (3-7B parameter models). Specific hardware requirements will be announced closer to launch.

How does on-device AI work?

Meta-OS uses optimized small language models (3-7B parameters) that run using Neural Network API (NNAPI) and hardware acceleration. This allows real-time AI responses without internet connectivity.

Does Meta-OS work offline?

Yes! Core AI features, voice recognition, and all built-in apps work completely offline. Only cloud-based services (like web browsing or streaming) require internet.

What about battery life?

On-device AI is optimized for power efficiency using hardware acceleration (NPU/TPU). Battery impact is comparable to or better than constantly syncing cloud-based AI services.

Availability

When will Meta-OS be available?

Meta-OS is currently in active development. Join our waitlist to be notified when we launch beta testing and public releases.

Will there be a beta program?

Yes! We'll be launching a beta program for early adopters and developers. Sign up on our waitlist to get early access.

How much will Meta-OS cost?

Pricing details will be announced closer to launch. Our goal is to make AI-native computing accessible to everyone.

For Developers

How do I build an agent for Meta-OS?

Agent development uses our SDK which allows you to define capabilities, conversation flows, and API integrations. Check our developer documentation for detailed guides and examples.

What programming languages are supported?

The Meta-OS SDK supports multiple languages including JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, and native development options. Agents are lightweight and focus on defining capabilities rather than full UIs.

Can I monetize my agents?

Yes! The Agent Store supports both free and paid agents. Developers can set their own pricing models including one-time purchases, subscriptions, or usage-based pricing.
